Assignment 3 - CD Cover
For the last assignment I did an illustration of Beethoven for a possible CD cover which would be used by Archiv Produktion for a re-releasing John Eliott Gardiner’s legendary period-instrument recordings of Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9 symphonies in a box set, as requested for the 3rd assignment. I chose to hand draw this illustration and paint using color pencils. The background color for the front cover is a kind of blue/grayish because most of the stages in which the presentations were made were black, but as I used black permanent markers, I chose to do it lighter so it would contrast more with the shapes of the drawings. The typography used for the name “Beethoven” is kind of modern, showing that although his songs are old, they are also present in modern times and is being re-released, but it contrasts with this classical-type in the name “symphonies”. I was drawing listening to his songs, so the reason why I drew him standing upright and holding a baton is that I could only imagine was Beethoven conducting the band and the score going around the whole stage. It’s as if I were there, watching the band play and seeing Beethoven conducting them.

Tutorial - Pencils and Popcorn
I watched the movie "Maid in Manhattan" and chose the best and the worst scenes in my opinion.
The image below was chosen by me as the worst scene (as a whole) because of the context. The couple had just met and they were in a park talking. Although during the fall the sun doesn't bright that much, the scene was too dark and could have something more romantic in the air such as some leaves falling around them to create another climate for the scene. Besides that, they could have been filmed with the camera in front of them, showing both of them looking passionately to each other. This is how I redrew the scene:
---
I chose the above scene as the best because it was one of the most beautiful moments of the movie: the maid was dressed out perfectly, with a beautiful and renowned sparkling necklace, almost holding the guy's hand, while he does the same wearing a suit. The ambience and the lighting were also perfect for that moment: at night, with a relatively big and bright fountain, making the moment be romantic, which is the intention for this scene.
